As we all moms know, it is a pain to cope with a busy schedule and to ensure that our children, and ourselves, are well fed. When Shane weaned from the breasts, he was a picky fussy little eater. Moreover, he struggled with sensory issues and rejected almost any food and every food that comes near him. Broths and soups have helped me to ensure that Shane grows well and is having all the essential nutrients for his general wellbeing. As I toss the freshly chopped vegetables into my pot of soup, I feel assured that I am feeding my child right. Now, I find joy in Shane’s smile as he takes a whiff off every homemade soup and broth we have on the menu.
Living in a city that never sleeps, we understand that no one has enough hours to prepare a flavourful and nutritious soup in Singapore. That is exactly how Shane’s Kitchen came about!

Good Soups for Health
We cannot overemphasise the importance of broths and soups in our diets, and the benefits a good soup can do for us.
- Soups and broths contain macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals that support a healthy immune system. For example, depending on the ingredients used, a good tasty chicken soup can be a great source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and minerals like Calcium, Iron, Magnesium and Phosphorus. These nutrients help to optimise the immune system in fighting off infections, ensure healthy bone and muscle growth, and improve vision. Soups and broths is an amazing way to consume food like a variety of vegetables in an easily digestible form. Cooking the ingredients together breaks down the various components and makes the digestion and absorption process gentler and easier. This is especially important for young children with immature digestive system, adults with a sensitive gut, and elderly with a weaken digestive system. Research shows that bone broth, for example, is rich in collagen which may be beneficial for gut health too. Collagen can help to soothe and repair the gut lining, reducing inflammation and improving digestion. Additionally, the amino acids found in bone broth can also help to stimulate the production of stomach acid, which is essential for breaking down food in our digestive system.
- Soups and broths help with weight management, without compromising your energy level for the day. They are low in calories and high in nutrients, making them a perfect option for those looking to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, yet increasing their energy level at the same time.
